Kerry & Jon
May 31, 2008

Kerry Jordan and Jon Brunn met on a blind date at Elmo’s Diner in Durham, and several years later became engaged during a blinding snowstorm while skiing in California. Jon had planned the proposal, and bad weather didn’t deter him. Stopping mid-slope to “take a picture”, Jon got down on his knees, but instead of pulling out his camera he pulled out a ring and asked Kerry to marry him. After she finished telling him he was crazy, she said yes!

Kerry and Jon chose the outdoor Duke Gardens Amphitheatre for the ceremony, and colors from nature as their garden wedding scheme. The vegetarian dinner was held in the Doris Duke Center, and dancing followed on the adjacent outdoor terrace under a tent.

Family and friends from childhood through graduate school took part in the ceremony, and Kerry felt fortunate to have all four of her grandparents present as well. In lieu of wedding favors, the couple instead donated to the Arbor Day Foundation to have trees planted. Outdoor enthusiasts Kerry and Jon enjoyed a stress-free and adventurous honeymoon in North Carolina, first enjoying a week at the Outer Banks, then a week in the Blue Ridge mountains.
